A waterfuse is an active component in a household or industrial plumbing system that detects abnormal flow or pressure drops, and stops the water flow to ensure that water damage does not occur, in a manner analogous to an electrical fuse. This Swedish product won the "hottest year's material news" at the 2011 North Building trade fair, the innovation prize for Jönkjöping, and came in 4th place among the "Inventor of the Year 2010" in Sweden. A waterfuse can be useful in detecting and isolating leaks in hidden portions of the plumbing. A modern waterfuse system can detect a leak down to one drop per minute from an dripping faucet or hidden pipe.
