Warwide

Warwide, commonly referred to as WW, is a browser-based, massive multiplayer online real time strategy game, set in the second world war. In it, each player takes control over a city, grows it, and eventually begins taking over other cities. The world map is the real one, is possible to move, stop and observe troops in real time, everywhere in the world, is also possible to build navy and do the same into the sea.
History
Warwide, is a browser based game and was released in 2006. It was developed and released by the Italian company Involutive. Out of business in 2009, it was bought by capriccio, a company whose chairman was an old Warwide player. The international version of the game was released on the 29 of September 2011.
Overview of game mechanics
Each player controls their game from their city. From the main screen, they can create or "visit" buildings such as their military academy to train soldiers and the interactive map to move troops. Each screen can be accessed by clicking on a structure, and the vast majority of the game is played through graphical based interaction, is possible to see in real time the moving of own and enemy troops on the map, attack or spies enemies and servers cities and also attack or spies enemies troops, that are inside or outside the cities. In Warwide there is a innovative war system, thanks to a collaboration with "Openlayers project", in this browser game is possible to play in the real world map, in every different countries, such as Morocco, Japan or Germany, to move and observe own troops in real time moving on the map and to stop in every moment them, for attack other target, or merely for hide them to enemies troops.
Player Interaction
Players can interact with each other through in game mail, and on the external forums. A large number of Warwide players also communicate through Skype or IRC.
Alliance
A large portion of the game revolves around the use of alliances. Usually alliance are country-based, we found an alliance for Italy, an alliance for Spain, etc. but is also possible to observe more alliances in the same country. Players join alliances for have protection and become stronger, with the possibility of conquer some new ground on the map.
Combat
Combat in the game is based on attacking cities or enemies army.
A player can move their troops on the map, for attack another city or another troop and depending on the number and type of troops sent,
and factors such as luck and technological research, a winner is determined. In order for a player to conquer other cities and
bring them under his or her control, politics research must be acquired and the level adequate to have another cities. Units can be recruited for use in combat at the Military academy, Arms industry and Dock.
Real Time Interaction
In every moment is possible to observe the position of own troops on the map and interact with that, time taken by own troops to reach enemies cities or enemies troops depends on distance, as well as the predetermined "speed" of soldiers that make the own troops.All units, e.g. soldiers, grenadiers, jeeps, tanks, trucks, motorboats, etc, have their own speeds; the entire army moves at the speed of its slowest component. As for buildings, each level takes longer to complete. A higher level of "homes" technological research causes the construction of other buildings to proceed more quickly. Higher level Military academy or Arms industry facilitate quicker recruitment of troops. It is not unusual for some actions to take hours, perhaps even days, to complete.
