WarLight

Produced by WarLight Games, LLC and originally released in 2008, WarLight is a strategy computer game owned and run by Randy Ficker (known in the game as Fizzer). The game resembles Risk, for one to forty players. The standard version is played on a board depicting a political map of the Earth, divided into forty-two territories, which are grouped into six bonuses. The objective of the game is to eliminate the other players — by using armies they control to capture territories from other players.
Gameplay
Loosely based on Risk, or by being booted if they exceed a time limit.
Competitions
Ladders are time-framed or on-going competitions between competitive WarLight players. The goal is to defeat players in a structured format, gaining the top spot, and seeing how long you can maintain this spot. Alternatively, you are assigned a rating based on your win/loss ratio and the quality of your opponents. There are currently four types of ladders: 1v1 Ladder, 2v2 Ladder, Seasonal Ladder and Real-Time Ladder.
The 1v1 Ladder uses the . While these games are supposed to be mostly skill, there is still an element of luck included, though significantly reduced. Participants can play anywhere from two to five games at one time, where new games are created once current games are complete. The 1v1 Ladder has no set end. The 2v2 Ladder uses the . Similarly to the 1v1 Ladder, these games are supposed to be mostly skill, there is still an element of luck included, though significantly reduced. Participants can play anywhere from two to five games at one time, where new games are created once current games are complete. Unlike the 1v1 Ladder though, you play with a teammate and switching teammates results in a new rating. The 2v2 Ladder has no set end. The seasonal ladder is unique as it is currently the only time-framed ladder. Each "season" lasts for a 60-day period where participants play up to a maximum of 20 games. Each season the template is different with different settings.
The Real-time Ladder creates games that are to be played in real-time (one sitting). The Ladder creates games within 5 minutes, if there is a suitable opponent. You can only play in one game at a time. When that game finishes, a new one will be created within 5 minutes, again assuming there’s a suitable opponent. You won’t be matched with the same person more than once in a 20-hour period. After selecting you wish to enter the Real-time Ladder, games are automatically created using the list of pre-determined templates. Which template is selected is random. It takes around 15 completed games to receive a rank. Unlike the other ladders, you get a rank even while you’re not joined to the ladder. If you don’t play a real-time ladder game for 3 days, you’ll lose your rank and revert to “Not Ranked” until you play a game again.
Added in Update 3.0, players can deposit real-world money into coins to 'wager' in special matches. With a conversion rate of 100 coins into $1USD (e.i. 1 WarLight coin = 1 US cent), with players being allowed to withdraw their money after gathering a minimum of 7500 coins. A 50 player free for all game was created to commemorate this event, with the winner receiving 10000 coins. In normal coin games, winnings range from 144 coins to 8910 coins, depending on the entry fee paid by both players. WarLight receives 10% of winnings from each coin match.
Community
Players can make their own maps. Currently, there are over 1000 player created maps, under a variety of categories, from a series of contributions from map creators among the WarLight community. Map-making doesn't require any advanced programming skills, but some knowledge of SVG's and paint editors may be handy. All maps can be unlocked, but every map has a different unlock level, so players can buy all maps using the Mega Maps Pack.
