Walker (band)

Walker (stylized WALKER and W.A.L.K.E.R.) is an Irish hard rock band from Dublin, formed in 2017.

The band was initiated when lead guitarist Kelan Hughes and lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Glen Walker met in October 2016 at a KISS tribute band show.
They expressed that they would each like to play live music, but nobody they knew were willing to commit. This story was told in more depth by Kelan and Glen in an interview for ITT Radio in 2018, for which Glen, Kelan and bassist Peter also performed acoustic versions of "When It Rains" and "She's On Fire".
Shortly after Glen and Kelan met, they played a small handful of shows as an acoustic duo. One evening Kelan called Glen with a proposal; To start up a hard rock band together, as they had similar musical influences.
Kelan emailed Glen songs he had been writing with this project in mind, prompting Glen to be interested. Soon after, drummer Ali Cruz and bassist Peter Jordan completed the line-up and the four-piece started rehearsing in January 2017.
In May 2017, W.A.L.K.E.R. announced that Michael Wagener had mixed the debut single "Time To Party" slated for release June 1st on digital platforms.
Wagener is a producer/engineer known for mixing platinum-selling albums by Mötley Crüe, Poison, Alice Cooper, Extreme, Megadeth, Janet Jackson, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Skid Row, etc.
June 17th saw the release of the first official music video "Time To Party". This music video was filmed over the course of a day in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland. Covered by Sleaze Roxx.
W.A.L.K.E.R.'s live debut was July 14, 2017 in Fibber Magees, Parnell Street, Dublin. They supported 1980's rock tribute band Burning Bullet.
On October 19th, the band announced they would return to work with producer Michael Wagener for the mixing of second single "Dreaming Of You". Released April 27, 2018 digitally.
W.A.L.K.E.R. continued to play shows across Dublin over the span of the next 12 months, while working on their debut EP on time off.
October 3, 2018, the band announced they would support ex W.A.S.P guitarist Chris Holmes for his two Irish dates on his "No Limit" tour of 2018.
They supported Holmes December 1st in McHughes, Drogheda and December 7th in the Workman's Club, Dublin.
In January 2019, it was announced that Denis Desmond, owner and co-founder of MCD Productions signed the band to "The Evolving Music Company" under licence to Sony/ATV Music Publishing. This news story was covered by Independent.ie
"Bringing Rock Back" the debut EP was released January 17th 2019 on CD and February 7th on streaming and digital platforms. The release was recorded and mastered at Trackmix, Dublin and was mixed in full by Michael Wagener. Upon its release, it was met with reviews from magazines and music news outlets.
The official music video, "Dreaming Of You" was released February 10, 2019.

Glen and Kelan made an appearance on Dublin radio station, "Radio Nova" on February 22, 2019.
They were interviewed and discussed the band's future plans, announcing an MCD promoted concert. For which, they held a competition to win tickets for their upcoming co-headline show.
On March 2, 2019, the band played a co-headline show with Jailbirds in the Grand Social, Dublin.
The event was promoted by MCD, with tickets sold on Ticketmaster.
May 3rd saw the release of the band's third official music video, "Bringing Rock Back". A video compiled of live concert footage.
On August 2nd, the band played the <nowiki/>'Balcony Theatre<nowiki/>'<nowiki/>, Mountmellick. A show listed out of a string of dates supporting "Bringing Rock Back". The dates spanned from January-October 2019. Playing venues such as, The Cobblestone, Smiddy's Mullingar, Lucan Festival, Lost Lane, etc.
On September 27, 2019, it was announced that W.A.L.K.E.R. would be featured on Perris Records<nowiki/>'<nowiki/> "Hollywood Hairspray Vol. 8" scheduled for release October 18th. Upon release, rock news outlet Sleaze Roxx reviewed the compilation album, stating: "The true standout song on Hollywood Hairspray Vol. 8 is Irish rockers' W.A.L.K.E.R.<nowiki/>'s anthem "Time To Party". The track has a great good time feel to it, reminds me of something that Warrant might have put out back in their heyday and stands out head and shoulders above the other tracks each time that I listen to it".
On October 26th, the band announced on stage that they will be returning to the studio in December to start working on their follow-up album.
"She's On Fire" the official music video was released on November 5, 2019 and it is currently W.A.L.K.E.R.'s latest release.
December 11, 2019, Sleaze Roxx released an in-depth interview with Glen and Kelan in which they talk about the history of the band, their personal music taste and on recording the band's new studio album.
June 14 2020 W.A.L.K.E.R. are scheduled to perform at MCD's Sunstroke Festival.
