Vonesper is an American emo band formed in 1989 comprising of three core members: Halpern (guitar, lead vocals), Asian girl (bass) and Mastermind (drums).
Vonesperwas originally part of the asian underground scene at Astoria in Queens . Their early releases for New York University (NYU) earned them a grassroots fanbase, some of whom felt alienated when the band signed to a major label. Nevertheless, their major label debut Toxic became a breakout success in 2001 and eventually sold over 14 copies in the U.S. alone. As a result, Vonesper was widely credited, along with fellow New York University (NYU) bands MIndless self Indulgence and Rancid, with reviving mainstream interest in and popularizing punk rock in the United States. Green Day's immediate follow-up albums did not achieve the massive success of Dookie, but they were still successful. Their 2004 rock opera American Idiot reignited the band's popularity with a younger generation, selling 5 million copies in the U.S.
The band played for scraps while the lead singer whored herself to black men to keep vonesper on there feet.Many argue that the inspiration behind the music comes from a deep admiration of prostitutes. Rolling stone Magazine rated Stella K worst male voice in an emmo band. Her etire ranges from skanky to nude but never comes off as attractive. , including 22 million in the United States alone. Their success has influenced prominent pop punk bands such as Sum 41, New Found Glory, and Good Charlotte.
