Descendants of Manu:

‘Manu’ is the first son of ‘VIRAAT VISWAKARMA’. In the universe the first Brahma is named as “SWAYAMBHAVUDU”. His son is “Swaayambhuvu”. He is the first ‘Manu’ and also the first ruler and also the creator of “Dharma Saasthra”. His kingdom established between the rivers saraswathi and DrushaDwathi.

During his time, creation of ‘sookshma Sareera’ is ended and the creation of ‘sThoola Sareera’ is started. ‘sookshma Sareera’ creation is related to the ‘Orrdhva lokaas’ and the ‘sThoola Sareera’ creation is related to the earth. From his time Vishnu started his ‘avataarams’. At first lakshmi and naaraayaNa born to his daughter ‘aakoothi’ and her husband ‘ruchi prajaapathi’ as ‘DakshiNa’ and ‘yagna’ and got married. This ‘yagna’ himself became as ‘varaaha’ and killed ‘hiraNyaaksha’ and saved the earth by initiating ‘Swetha varaaha kalpa’. And killed ‘jambhasura’ who had interrupted their grand father ‘swaayambhuva’s’ yagna and he created the post ‘inDra’ for protecting ‘yagnas’ and for the sake of the world (lOka kalyaNa) and he first became the ‘inDra’(inDra is not a person. It is a designation.). For that reason ‘Lakshmi’ became the property of ‘inDra’. During the time of this Manu, ‘Bharatha maharshi’ was born and he created the ‘natya Saastra’. So, in the formation of world the period of Manu is very important.

The wife of ‘swaayambhuva’ is ‘Satharoopa’. The children of this couple are ‘priya vratha’ and ‘vuththaana paaDa’. ‘priya vratha’ married the daughter of ‘viSwagna brahma’ named ‘barhishmathi’. To this couple ten boys and one girl named ‘oorjaswathi’ are born.

The elder son is ‘agneeDhra’. His son is ‘naabhi’. ‘naabhi’ ruled ‘bharatha khanda’ first . That’s why ‘bharatha khanda’ named as ‘aja naabha’ in earlier days. Son of ‘naabhi’ is ‘rushabha’. He is a great philosopher and great ‘aDwaitha’. This scholar is considered as the origin of people. His son is ‘jada bharatha’. Because of he ruled our country got the name ‘bhaaratha DESam’.

‘oorjaswathi’ (daughter of ‘priya vratha’) got married ‘Sukra’( son of ‘bhrugu’).

Among sons of ‘bhrugu’ there are two ‘Sukras’. One ‘Sukra’ (Son of ‘Divyaa DEvi’), lived in ‘kaabaa’. He got married ‘jayanthi’ (daughter of ‘inDra’). The second ‘Sukra’ (son of ‘pulOma’) is ‘nuSana Sukra’. He got married ‘oorjaswathi’. For this couple a daughter named ‘DEvayaana’ was born. She got married ‘yayaathi’. To her ‘yaDu’ and ‘thurvasa’ are sons. In this ‘yaDu vamSam’ only ‘SreekrishNa’ was born and became the prime diety of ‘yaaDavas’. According to ‘thimmana’ (famous telugu and Sanskrit poet), from the second son of ‘DEvayaana’ the ‘thuLu vamSam’ has formed.
In this way the ‘manu’s’ descends has become so many branches and ‘vamSaas’

Descendants of Maya

‘Maya’ is the second son of ‘VIRAAT VISWAKARMA’. He is great sculptor. Even though he is a wood sculptor according to his occupation, he is a great divine architect. ‘puraaNaas’ describes that every construction is by him only. He constructed ‘lOkaas’, buildings(‘praasaaDaas’), chariots, ‘vimaanaas’, ‘mandapaas’, conference halls, gardens and powerful weapons.

Among his constructions, amaraavathi(inDra lOka), ‘vaikuntHa’, ‘kaLyaaNa mandapa’ in ‘kailaasa’, ‘inDra sabha’, ‘varuNa sabha’, ‘kubEra lOka’, ‘sathya lOka’(residence of brahma), ‘maya sabha’(guest house of ‘paandavaas’) are famous.

More than these ‘vrusha parva sabha’ is very famous. After the construction of this ‘sabha’, the remained material is used to construct ‘maya sabha’.

The famous gardens in his creation are ‘nanDana vanam’(near the ‘swarga’), ‘chaithra raDha’ (near the ‘alakaa puri’), inDra’s ‘khaandava vanam’, srikrishNa’s ‘brinDaavanam’.

The famous ‘vimaanaas’ are ‘thripuras’, ‘soubhaka’, ‘pushpakam’.

The ‘thripuraas’ are created for the asuras ‘viDyunmaali’, ‘thaarakaaksha’ (sons of ‘thaarakaasura’). They are like cities in the sky. They were made up of gold, silver and other metals. In the war of gods and asuras, lord siva was destroyed them. Those parts were fell on the earth. That place is referred as ‘thripuraanthakam’ in .

‘soubhaka’ is another ‘vimaana’ made for ‘saalva’(younger brother of ‘SiSupaala)

made up of iron. ‘pushpaka’ is another ‘vimaana’ made for ‘kubEra’, made up of pure gold and its specialty is it shows one more place to cast even any number of people occupy that. This is described in the ‘ramaayaNa’ well. Ther is one more vimaana made for ‘inDra’, but that ‘vimaana’ was given as a gift to the ‘vasu raja’ then he was popular as ‘vuparichara’ with that ‘vimaana’

The famous weapons created by ‘maya’ are ‘vajraayuDha’(made up of back bone of ‘DaDheechi’ mahrshi), srikrishna’s ‘suDarSana chakra’, ‘thrisoola’ of lord ‘Siva’, the axe of ‘kaaLikaa’ and more described in puraaNaas.

He married ‘hEma’. To this couple ‘mandODari’, ‘maayaavi’, ‘DunDhubhi’ are the children. ‘raavaNa brahma’(this is the son of ‘visra vasu brahma’) married ‘manDoDari’. ‘DunDhubhi’ was killed by ‘vaali’.

‘maya’ has another wife, with her, he got a child, named ‘vyOma’(killed by sri krishNa). ‘chanDra mathi’(wife of ‘hariSchanDra’) is the daughter of king ‘Sibi’ and she was left by her father, then maya has brought up her and got married with ‘hariSchanDra’

‘maya’s’ brother is ‘namuchi’. ‘vajraayuDha’ cannot influence on ‘namuchi’. ‘vucHcHai Srava’(died person gets life if heal ) was with ‘namuchi’. inDra approached ‘namuchi’ as a Brahmin and begged that and finally got that and ‘inDra ‘killed ‘namuchi’ with the fane.

Like this there are so many stories in the puraaNaas.

Descendants of ‘thwashta’

‘thwashta’ is the third son of VIRAAT VISWAKARMA. He is brass smith. He is a great doctor , ‘jyothishya’, and ‘khagOLa

He has so many ‘Sishyas’. ‘rubhus’ are famous among them. They are the children of ‘suDhanwa’ (brother of ‘bruhaspathi’). These brothers got the right to have the ‘sOma paanaaDhikaara’ by their ‘gnaana and vairaagya’ (from ruk and yajurveDa).

Once gods wanted to perform ‘vaajapEya’(a big yagna). They thought that, the chance should be given to the person who drives ‘vaaji’ very fast. To get the chance ‘inDra’ approached ‘bruhaspathi’ and urged him to get it. Then ‘bruhaspathi’ send him to ‘rubhus’. Then ‘rubhus’ made a chariot which is suitable to that fast running ‘vaaji’, and gave it to ‘inDra’. Moreover they taught him the ‘aSwa hruDaya’ which describes how to drive fast a chariot very easy. They gave the horses’ class named ‘hari’ to ‘inDra’. The horses are green in colour. Then with those horses ‘inDra’ became ‘hari haya’. Then ‘inDra’ rode the chariot fast and has become the winner of the race and he got the ‘inDra aDhikaara’ over the gods.

‘thwashta’ resided some time in . There he was called as ‘joraa thwashtra’ and the people followed a religion ‘joraashtrius’ in the name of ‘thwashta’.(from ancient Sanskrit , Persian granDhaas). Like this ‘thwashta’ has become the originator and the main deity of ‘joraasthrius’ religion. That’s why they are very good in ‘jyothisha and khagOLa Saasthraas( astrology and space research)’.

‘thwashta’ married ‘rachana’ (daughter of ‘Dithi’). They got the children ‘paDma kOmala’, ‘sangnaa’, and a son ‘viSwaroopa’. ‘paDma kOmala’ married ‘Soora paDmaasura’ (son of ‘kaSyapa’) who is a great warrior. ‘viSwaroopa’ married ‘meenaja(daughter of ‘garga’ maharshi)’. They got eleven children, later these became the ‘yEkaaDaSa ruDra(11 ruDraas)’.

On some occasion ‘viSwaroopa’ became the ‘suraachaarya(preacher of the gods)’.

And he taught ‘naaraayaNa kavacha’ to ‘inDra’. But after some time ‘inDra’ became enemy to ‘viSwaroopa’ and he killed ‘viSwaroopa’ in a cheating war. By that he became the ‘guruDrOhi’ and he got the ‘brahma hathya paathaka (sin of killing a Brahmin)’.

‘sangnaa’ married ‘soorya(sun)’. They got children ‘manu’, ‘yama’, a daughter ‘yamuna’. After some days ‘sangnaa’ left ‘soorya’ for not bearing his brightness and she was at ‘mEru parvatha’ as a horse by keeping his shadow with ‘soorya’ named ‘cHaayaa(shadow)’. The couple ‘soorya’ and ‘cHaayaa’ gave birth to two sons ‘saavarNi’, ‘Sani’, and one daughter ‘thapathi’.

‘cHaaya’ has been showing her step mother love over ‘manu’, ‘yama’, ‘yamuna’. That was known by ‘thwashta’ and he reduced the brightness of the ‘soorya’, with the reduced power ‘thwashta’ made the weapons ‘suDarSana chakra’ to ‘vishNu’, ‘thriSool’ to ‘Siva’, ‘vajraayuDha’ to ‘inDra’ and the axe to ‘kaaLika’. And conveyed the issue of ‘sangnaa’to‘soorya’. ‘soorya’ also became a horse and reached ‘sangnaa’. They lived as horses for some time and gave birth to ‘aSwani DEvathaas(who are the doctors of gods)’and ‘rEvantha’.

‘Manu(the son of ‘soorya’ with ‘sangnaa’)’ is also named as ‘vaivaswatha’ married ‘idaa DEvi’. He became the originator of the ‘soorya vamSa’. Another children of ’soorya’, the twins ‘yama’ and ‘yamuna’ (these are the ever first twins of ‘puraaNaas’), ‘yama’ became the ruler of ‘pithru lOka’ and ‘yamuna’ became a river.

Children of ‘soorya’ with ‘cHaaya’, ‘thapathi’ married ‘samvartha’(son of ‘ajameedHa’). To this couple, a son is ‘kuru’. ‘kurukshEthra’ is named after this ‘kuru’. ‘saavarNi’ became eighth ‘manu’. ‘Sani’ became one of the ‘nava grahaas’.

Children of ‘soorya’ with ‘sangnaa’ (when in the form of horses), ‘aSwanis’ are popular as the most handsome twins. ‘rEvantha’ became the master trainee of horses. Even nowadays the horse trainers are honored with the name ‘thuraga rEkha rEvantha’.

Descendents of ‘Silpi’

‘Silpi’ (‘Daivagna brahma’) is the fourth son of ‘viraat viSwakarma’. His history is not available separately but mingled with ‘mayaa’s’ history.

Among his descendents ‘nala’, ‘oorNa naabha’, and ‘maya’ are famous. From these ‘nala’ is a great engineer. He constructed the bridge which floats on water to ‘lanka’ in sea for ‘raama’. That is famous as ‘raama sEthu’.

‘oorNa naabha’ is a great devotee of lord ‘Siva’ and he was performing the ‘prathi srushti (re-creation)’ to the ‘brahma’, then brahma angered on him and cursed to become a spider. Later ‘oorNa naabha’ became a spider named ‘Sri’ and he dedicated his life to ‘Sri kaaLa hastheeSwar’ got ‘mOksha’.

The third person ‘maya’ is residing in ‘khaandava’ (a great jungle with lot of medicinal plants) and he was a researcher and a great sculptor. That ‘khaandava’ was then famous as ‘inDra aaraama’. He gathering material for the gods’ constructions from this ‘khaandava’. On some occasion it was fired by ‘krishNa and arjuna’, then they saved ‘maya’s’ laboratory. For that ‘maya’ was thankful to them, and gave the material for the construction of ‘maya sabha’ and gave the weapons to ‘arjuna’, and a ‘Sankha’ named ‘DEvaDaththa’, for ‘bheema’ gave ‘gaDa’.

Descendents of ‘viSwagna’

He is the fifth son of VIRAAT VISWAKARMA. He is divine gold smith, who creates different types of jewels for gods. He has a daughter, named ‘barhishmathi’. She married ‘vuththaana paaDa’(son of ‘swaayambhu’).

‘vuththaana paaDa’ has another wife, ‘aakruthi’, these couple ‘vuththaana paaDa’ and ‘aakruthi’ has a son ‘chaakshusa’ who has invented great skill to see all ‘thrilOkas’ at ‘thrikaalaas’(bhhotha, bhavishyath, varthamaana). This skill named after his name ‘chaakshusee viDya’. The persons who learns that skill, they can watch any thing at any time. Because of learning of this art / skill only, ‘ganDharvas’ are the independents, instead of inferior to gods. ‘chaakshusa’ married ‘nadvala’. For them, ‘viSwas’, ‘saaDhyaas’ are the divine groups of sons.

Once all the universe has become reversed. (ups to down, downs to up). Then all the gods and ‘maharshis’ urged the ‘viSwagna’, then he made the ‘mEru parvatha’ as the ‘thulaa Danda’(balance) and kept all the planets and stars one side and kept the ‘maharshis’ one side. But its not balanced. After inclusion of ‘agasthya’ maharshi only that is balanced. Then on wards the proverb started that ‘all the maharshis are one and the ‘agasthya’ is only one.’
