Visual communication of butterflies

Each and every organism have different kinds of communicating systems.Butterflies are also having different kinds of communications (for eg: Chemical,Visual ,Sound etc. ) like other insects. They have many behavioral aspects un-revealed one of them is visual Communication. Now the question is that how it impacts in pollination and their mate choice? There are some controversy about which colors butterflies can see. Few are saying butterflies can only see UV color pattern, violet, blue, green, and red wavelength peaks when they are foraging. The butterflies have ultraviolet markings on their wings to help them identify one another and locate potential mates. Flowers and leaves are also having a special kind of ultraviolet pattern that guides them to pollinate and identify their host and nector plants.but, for this particular area no studies have been done earlier. To know visual communication in butterflies first observation is required in any natural habitat of butterflies or in a butterfly garden. Many time we can observe a butterfly male flying in few distance from a female one and waiting for female to response in it.Then the male one start chasing the female one during courtship. We have observed this kinds of mating behaviour in , Common Jezebel, Red Pierrot etc like in many other species. So, their photoreception process are still a interesting and important topic to study.
