Vietnam War film

A Vietnam War film is a film that centers its plot or lead characters around the Vietnam War. One of the first major Vietnam War films is the 1968 John Wayne movie The Green Berets. Two films that were acclaimed for their raw depictions of the war were The Deer Hunter and Apocalypse Now. Soon many others would follow, including Oliver Stone's critically acclaimed Platoon, based on his service in the U.S. Military during the Vietnam War, and Full Metal Jacket, among others. Other films in this genre include films that deal more with the issues veterans face at home after returning from the war. Films in this category include Combat Shock, The War At Home, and Born On The Fourth Of July.
