Personal Life Vicki Taylor (born Victoria Taylor on 18 May 1987) is a multi-talented individual with vast experience in a range of fields and disciplines. Taylor was born in Birmingham, UK, and was brought up in this city. Taylor is currently a student at Newman University College, Bartley Green, studying a Masters of Arts degree in Education Studies. Education Taylor spent her high school life at Colmers Farm School, Birmingham, where she gained a number of GCSE qualifications. She moved on to Kings Norton Girls School, Birmingham, to attend the joint 6th Form where she spent the next three years of her life. Taylor struggled through her educational life, scraping through the system until she gained acceptance at Newman University College, Birmingham where she successfully achieved a 1st Class Degree in 2009. Career Taylor has worked (for a wage) since the age of 16 years old. Previous to this she worked as a volunteer in a range of settings and occupations including schools, extra-curricular arts groups, martial arts and more. Taylor established a successful early career in the sport of Judo from the age of 5 years old. Her father, Clive Eric Taylor (21 January 1961 - 27 March 2009) was the coach that supported Taylor's early career fighting under Longnuke Judo Club. Taylor participated in the Junior Olympics of 1996 and went on to being entered into a number of Heart of England Judo Championships at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham between the ages of 12 and 16 years old. From this success, Taylor was selected as part of the Great Britain Judo Squad in which she fought at various events including the National Judo Championships at Krystal Palace, London, and the International Judo Championships in Belgium. Taylor now instructs Judo to young children aged between 5 and 15 years old at Longnuke Judo Club, Birmingham. Taylor has worked on a volunteering basis at a number of schools as a Teaching Assistant and Classroom Support Assistant at a number of schools including Rednal Hill Infant School, Birmingham, in 2002; Chadsgrove Special School for the disabled, Bromsgrove, in 2003; and Fox Hollies Special School for the disabled in 2007; amongst others. Taylor also has had volunteer experience in creating and distributing Newsletters for a number of companies, and worked as an Administrative Assistant for Longnuke Judo Club between the years 2001 and 2005. Taylor began her paid working life at the Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham in 2004 as a Support Tutor for the Youth Theatre after having volunteered in the same role previous to this employment. At the same time, she also gained an additional role within the Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham as a Front of House Assistant. Meanwhile she was given a third employment under the Birmingham City Council in partnership with the Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham in which she supported young Looked-After Children (aged 4 - 12 years old) in a short-term drama group. Taylor also was an active Director, Actress, Producer, Playright and Support Tutor within the Youth Theatre at the Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham. This gave Taylor a platform to further develop her career in other companies including PlayTrain and Women & Theatre, Birmingham where she began her professional life as a Researcher and Co-Facilitator. Taylor continues her relationship with Women & Theatre as she currently sits on their Board of Directors. Taylor also is part of a newly evolving company Collectors Extra which is a company for young people, by young people, aiming to share young people's arts with the world. Literature Taylor is an established and published poet in a number of poetry anthologies including those edited by the International Society of Poetry (2005) and the International Library of Poets (2007). Taylor is also a highly active member of the online community in which she currently hold a range on websites and wiki-sites.
