Varsity quiz

Kiwanis' Varsity Quiz is a weekly quiz bowl show for high school students that airs on PBS-affiliate KLVX Channel 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is currently broadcast at 7 pm on Saturdays, and the host is WTHR morning meteorologist Nathan Tannenbaum. It is sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Las Vegas. The show is filmed at the KLVX studios on McLeod Street in Las Vegas.
Rules
Each Varsity Quiz show is contested by two teams of four players each. Teams may buzz in and attempt to answer at any time while a question is being read. Team members may not confer with one another prior to answering. Once a team member rings in, he/she must wait for the moderator to call his/her school and name before answering. Failure to abide by this rule will result in an incorrect answer. If a player of one team rings in and answers incorrectly, his/her team is "locked out", and the other team may attempt to "steal" the points for that question by ringing in after the answer is deemed incorrect. However, a team may not steal the other's bonus points if the team receiving the bonus questions are incorrect.
Format
Round One (Tossup Round): 25 questions. No time limit.
There are be 25 questions in the first round worth 5 points each for a total possible of 125 points. Tossup Round questions are generally long clues in paragraph format. The Tossup Round is not played against the clock; however, players must ring in within 5 seconds from the completion of the question. If the first answer is incorrect, the other team may ring in immediately after the first answer is declared incorrect. Otherwise, the question is answered by the moderator and no points will be awarded. Once a student has rung in, he/she must wait for the moderator to call his/her school name and name. Math questions will be read twice.
Round Two (Bonus Round): Six minute time limit or 10 questions.
In this round, five point tossup questions are asked. The team that correctly answers the tossup question is given two bonus questions relating to the tossup question. The team's captain is given 10 seconds to discuss the question with his/her team and provide the answers. Each correct answer to the bonus questions is worth five points (for a total of 10 points). This round lasts six minutes. Math questions are, again, read twice.
Round Three (Lightning Round): Six minute time limit.
The Lightning Round is similar to the tossup round, but with much shorter, one-sentence clues. Lightning round questions are worth five points each. Teams have three seconds to ring in. If an answer is incorrect, the other team must immediately ring in to have an opportunity to answer. There are no set number of questions in this round, and questions will continue until the six minute time limit. When a player rings in, he/she must wait until the name caller has identified the name of their school and his/her name before answering.
Participants
Varsity Quiz is divided into six divisions: North, Northwest, West, Southwest, Southeast, and East, each with six to seven teams.
