Vadim Fedotov

Vadim Fedotov (, born January 19, 1985) is a Russian media manager, chairman of the Digital Committee as well as the managing director of the digital entities at Gazprom Media Holding, eastern and central Europe's largest media holding. He is also the chairman of the board of directors of Ruform LLS, the leading online video service in Russia. Fedotov is also a co-owner and CEO of a personalized medicine and biohacking startup Bioniq. He finished Schloss Hagerhof High School in Bad Honnef, moved to United States and acquired a BCs degree in international business and marketing from University at Buffalo.
Sports
Fedotov played basketball since the age of 6, and attended athletic school since the age of 16. In the early 2000s he played for local professional club Dragons Rhöndorf. He was a member of the national team from 2003-2005.
While studying at the University at Buffalo, Fedotov was a forward-center of the Buffalo Bulls men's basketball team and participated in the NCAA Division I in the 2005-2009 seasons. In 2009, Fedotov was named to the Academic All-MAC Team. He abandoned his basketball career due in part to injuries.
Corporate career
Fedotov underwent an internship in Delaware North and returned to Russia in 2009 as the head of procurement department at Barkawi Management Consultants GmbH & Co.KG. In November 2011 he started a job at Groupon Russia. He led the sales department and was promoted to CEO in August 2012. This appointment was featured in the list of 100 key appointments of 2012 by the Career magazine. Since March 2013 he was also a CEO of Groupon Ukraine. In 2016 Fedotov also became the chairman of Ruform, the company formed by merger of Rutube video hosting and Pladform video distribution platform. Since January 2018 Fedotov was the advisor of Gazprom Media Holding CEO and assisted him in management of digital actives. Fedotov was twice included in the ranking of young managers by Olders Bendston and Mediascope. He was rated A in 2016 and rated AAA in 2018.
Entrepreneurship
In June 2018 Fedotov and the founders of Lamoda invested $500,000 in construction materials marketplace GdeMaterial. In 2019 Fedotov and Konstantin Karusin (medicinal scientist who worked on clinical tests for GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer, and studied metabolism and cognitive abilities of professional sportsmen) established a personalized medicine and biohacking startup Bioniq headquartered in London. In February 2020 Bioniq partnered with Russian clinic network Medsi to establish a joint venture Bioniq-Medsi with $500 mil of funding from Medsi. Fedotov became the CEO of the new company.
Family
* His father, Vadim Fedotov, won multiple tennis championships in the Leningrad region in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles (1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1991). He is also a winner of The Open Tennis Championship of Russia among men (1986, Sochi).
* Fedotov's mother, Yelena Davydova, is a writer and a journalist. She graduated from the Faculty of Philology at St. Petersburg State University and had her works published in literary magazines, e.g., Star, Neva, Aurora. In 1998, Universal Word Publishing House published a collection of short stories The Girl To Talk To. She taught at universities in Germany, the United States, and the Arab countries.
* Fedotov's grandfather, , was a poet, novelist, and screenwriter. He is considered to be "the youngest of the poets of frontline generation". The author of more than 20 collections of short stories, novels, and poem cycles, including Come to the Fire: Poems, Waterfront: Poems, The Confusing Trail. Sanatorium of Dr. Volkov: Novels, and Harsh Holiday: Poems.
* Fedotov's grandmother, Zoya Davydova, since 1966 and for more than thirty years held the position of chief radio director of the Leningrad Committee for Television and Radio, later All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company in St. Petersburg. Under her supervision, over a hundred radio plays based on the works of classical and contemporary writers were broadcast nationally. For several of them she has been awarded with the International prizes for her role as the director.
