Utah Utes football under Ron McBride

Ron McBride was the eighteenth head coach of the University of Utah Utes football team. During his tenure, from 1990 to 2002, the Utes ended a twenty-eight year bowl game drought by appearing in the 1992 Copper Bowl. Under McBride, the team was also the strongest it had been since the Ike Armstrong era (1925-1949), with the team having a winning record ten out of thirteen seasons, including eight straight winning seasons from 1991 to 1999. During this period, the Utes were invited to six bowl games, winning three and losing three. In 1994, the team also finished the season ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time ever and the first time since 1947 that they had appeared in the AP Poll at all.
