Ustad Kausar Ali

Ustad Kausar Ali was born in a family of musicians in Rudauli village near Benaras, India. He started his training in tabla playing at an early age under the tutelage of his Uncle Jan Mohammed and received further training under Pt. Kamal Mishra and Pt. Kishan Maharaj.
He gave his first performance at the age of 15 in Bombay (now known as Mumbai). Thereafter he rose to great heights and was presented with the prestigious award of "Taal Mani" by Sur-Singaar Samsad in 1983. He has accompanied artists such as Pt. Jyotin Bhattacharya, Lat Ustad Salamat Ali Khan of Pakistan, accomplished Kathak dance and actor late Pt. Gopi Kishan, the Sarangi Maestro Ustad Sultan Khan and other talented and great musicians. He is an approved artist on All India Radio, Bombay.
He has released two albums under the banner of "Naad Brahma Music Academy" which he started in 1998. "Shunya Taal" the first album is piece of genius. It is a new creation in classical Tabla solo. Ustad Kausar Ali has enlightened his own unbeatable creativity in this album by making this recording a Historical Presentation.
During a Private Performance in 1978 of "Shunya Taa;" by Ustad Kausar Ali, late Tabla Samarat Samta Pandit Prasad had blessed him and had remarked to Pandit Kamal Mishra "It would take 400 years for anyone to play this Taal". On another occasion when Ustad Kausar Ali accompanied Late Ustad Salamat Khan of Pakistan performing concerts all over India in 1988, Ustad Salamat Khan appreciated his performance and praised him in the presence of established artists of India and said 'A new "Tabla" is born in Hindustan.'
The second album "Tera Intazar Hai' is a Ghazals of Thumri. Ustad Kausar Ali received his training in Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, Holi, Chaiti, Geet, Ghazals and Bhajans from his Guru Late Pt. Kamal Mishra and his wife late Hiradevi Mishra.
Ustad Kausar Ali is also an innovative composer. He has been motivated and inspired by Malika-e-ghazal Madhurani to sing and compose ghazals and sufi kalam.
Ustad Kausar Ali has won an ardent fan following through his concerts. He has performed in concerts in all over India, Germany, Switzerland, US, UK and Africa. Today he is a Tabla maestro in his own right and holds a prominent place in the hierarchy of Contemporary Tabla players of India.
