US invasion of The Conch Republic

The US invasion of The Conch Republic (Dubbed The Great Invasion of 1995 by the Conches) was a small-scale bloodless war that happened in The Florida Keys in 1995.
Background
The Conch Republic is a secessionist micronation located on Key West. It declared independence in 1982 as a protest against the tight border control between The Keys and mainland Florida. It is not currently recognised by any other United Nations member yet treats itself as independent. There is very little tension between the US and the Conch Republic in general, yet sometimes the occasional conflict over territory pops up.
The Conflict
On the 20th of September, 1995, the 478th Civil Affairs Battalion was due to conduct a training exercise on Key West. They were to stage an invasion of the island and treat is as the invasion of a foreign island. It was purely for training, but the US military failed to inform anyone in the Conch Republic of this.
Early that morning, the news reached president Dennis Wardlow of the coming invasion. He declared that the Conch armed forces were to be placed on full alert and issued an emergency radio broadcast to the citizens of the Keys. Conch military officials then rushed out a battle plan along with a letter of complaint to the US government.
As the 478th approached the Keys, the Conch military prepared for war. They radioed ahead to the Americans, warning them of their intentions. The Americans radioed back, asking for the Conches cooperation and claiming that they were the 'good guys'. The Conches stuck to their guns and the Americans turned back, acknowledging the Conches wishes.
At 10:50 PM The Conches received a fax from the 478th on U.S. Department of the Army letterhead stating that they had "...in no way meant to challenge or impugn the sovereignty of the Conch Republic".
