University Park Alliance (UPA) is an American non-profit organization and community development corporation based in Akron, Ohio. It is dedicated to the revitalization of University Park, the 50-block urban neighborhood surrounding the University of Akron. The organization receives major funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. UPA's mission is to redevelop University Park through real estate investment, economic development, social and human capital development, and community/civic engagement development. The organization focuses on the collaboration of the region's major anchor institutions to create a unique and diversified community. University Park Alliance was formed in 2000 through a partnership of the University of Akron, Summa Health System, and the City of Akron. Funding UPA receives major funding from the John S. and James L.
