About
Underwood Avenue is named for W.A Underwood, a businessman who created the company Florence Water Works. Underwood Avenue was the main street of Dundee when it was a village. It now is still the main street of Dundee, but Dundee is now part of Omaha, annexed in 1915.
Underwood Avenue is mostly a residential street, but at the corner of it and Happy Hollow Boulevard, exits the houses and enters the heart of Dundee, which is at around 50th Street and Underwood Avenue.
Route
Underwood Avenue starts at the intersection of 69th and Cass Streets. The Cass Street roadway turns northeast as Underwood Avenue. Underwood Avenue is mostly residential at this stage. It is surrounded by the neighborhood Fairacres to the south, and southern Benson on the north.
A the intersection with J.E George Boulevard and Dillon Drive, Underwood Avenue enters Dundee on the north and Memorial Park on the south. It keeps its course, and intersects Happy Hollow Boulevard, entering the heart of Dundee.
Underwood Avenue goes through the heart of Dundee. As the main street of Dundee, it bypasses many significant places, such as the memorial to the bomb that exploded over Dundee and the heart of Dundee, which is composed of many unique shops.
Just after entering the heart of Dundee at 50th Street, it goes on for 0.2 miles before it intersects 48th Street. There it terminates and the roadway goes on as California Street. At 46th Street, California Street passes west of Dundee.
