Un-Islamic Non-State

Un-Islamic Non-State refers to the term used by Ban Ki-moon, the secretary general of the United Nations to discribe ISIL, an extremist militant group. Similar statement is made by Britain Muslim groups asking David Cameron to call the group "Unislamic state" or "UIS".
Appellation
In remarks to Security Council Ban Ki-moon said:“They should more fittingly be called the ‘Un-Islamic Non-State,'” He argued that "Muslim leaders around the world have said, groups like ISIL - or Daesh — have nothing to do with Islam, and they certainly do not represent a state."
Analysis
According to Qasim Rashid in Huffington Post, calling the group "Un-Islamic" is justified because Islam's teachings don't substantiate acts such as honor killing and "whether they are Muslim or not is irrelevant to whether their acts are Islamic or not." Nihad Awad writes in Times that calling the group “Islamic State,” grants them religious legitimacy.
