Ultimate rap league

The Ultimate Rap League, also known as 'Smack' an acronym for 'Streets, Music, Art, Culture, and Knowledge, is a battle rap league in the United States. Smack/URL, based out of New York, was founded by Troy 'Smack' Mitchell and Eric Beasley. The Ultimate Rap League has had several large events like 'Summer Madness' attended by many fans and celebrities as well such as Kevin Durant, Busta Rhymes, Sean Combs and other notable figures in the hip hop community.
Troy Mitchell, Cofounder of the Smack Ultimate Rap League, started off making what was known as "Smack DVDs". Mitchell was influenced by the power of mixtapes in hip hop by figures such as DJ Clue and others. His goal was to capture the underground scene of hip hop visually, he then acquired the technology needed and began filming and editing film of events going on in underground hip hop culture. He would film video shoots, interviews with hip hop figures such as Eminem, 50 Cent, Papoose, Maino, the Diplomats, and many more. This hip hop media was distributed in DVD samples given to local shops. The Smack DVD began to sell more with the features of rap battles which on smack were gritty and provided a lot of controversial moments to help propel the DVD series.
