Truth Be Told film

The movie opens with Olivia George (Jodie Foster) and her husband Richard (Steven Ritchie) walking along the beach hugging and kissing. It turns out to be a dream and Olivia wakes up. Her oldest daughter, Jessica, (Lizzie Moua) and youngest, Megan, (Riley Debsie Monroe) are eating breakingfast when Olivia tells them that she'll be looking for a job.
Three days later it's the anniversary of Richard's death and Megan gets into a fight at school for remembering the loss of her father by punching one of her classmates in the face. Jessica picks up her little sister who is now suspended from school for a week and the two of them head home. Megan hides in her bedroom barracading the door with a chair and ripping clothes and pillows. Jessica begans to cry when she hears the mess coming from her sister's room. She confronts with Megan who is able to gain control of her actions and the two of them go out for ice cream. They also decide not to tell Olivia.
Meanwhile, Olivia applies for a job as a real estate agent and meets an attractive widower, Lawrence Jackson (James Freeman), who lost his wife in a car crash. Lawrence becomes attracted to her as well and the two of them start working together. Back at home, Megan goes through all of the junk in the hall closet and finds a scrapbook containing pictures of Olivia, Richard, Jessica, and herself. Megan takes the book to her room and hides it under her bed, her actions are seen by Jessica.
The next morning when her mother leaves, Megan turns through the pages of the scrapbook and is caught by Jessica. The sisters argue that the book was personal but Megan wins the fight by telling Jessica, "Mom would've shown us sooner or later..." Olivia sells her first house to a married couple which reminds her of Richard. Feeling "depressed" from the thought, Olivia returns home early and Megan hides in her closet. When Olivia leaves the house two hours later to go shopping, Megan comes out of hiding and decides to escape to the park, carrying the scrapbook with her. Jessica sits by herself at lunch when she's at school, thinking of her father. When the next period starts she refuses to do any work or tell anyone what's wrong. The teacher sends her home early.
A neighbor, Mr. Clide (Robert Roque), spots Megan at the park when he is there with his three year old daughter. Though he doesn't immediantly confront her, Mr. Clide decides to wait until Megan starts to leave. However, Megan spots Mr. Clide and realizes he had seen her when she was supposed to be at school. She runs home and finds Jessica sobbing in her room. Lawrence asks Olivia out on a date and she accepts but doesn't tell her kids. When she returns home she starts planning ahead for the date and Megan becomes suspicious. Jessica returns to school with a better attitude and a new student, Ruby Wallace (Samantha Rivers), befriends her. And the two realize that they have one thing in common: their dad is dead. When Jessica announces to Ruby that her dad had cancer, Ruby replies by saying she wants to be a doctor and study the different types of cancer.
Lawrence tells Olivia he lost the reservation plans and invites himself to her house to have dinner instead, since his house is being exterminated. An hour before he arrives, Olivia tries to send the girls to a movie but they question her. Olivia makes up a story by telling them her boss and his wife are coming over to discuss the next plans along with having dinner. Jessica and Megan buy her story but Megan still suspects that Olivia is up to something. When they arrive at the theater, Megan tells Jessica that Olivia is probably on a date. Jessica dismisses Megan's idea and they continue with their plans.
Lawrence and Olivia have a romantic date and they end up making love. When the girls return they spot Lawrence pulling out of the driveway and walk in on Olivia putting her clothes back on. Realizing that Megan was right, Jessica curses at her mother and tells her that she hates her. Megan becomes heart-broken because she remembers her mother saying years ago that she would never love again after dad died. Olivia becomes angry at herself and disses Lawrence very harshly the next day. Olivia discovers that Megan was suspended from school and punishes her. Megan starts to swear at her mother also saying she was keeping secrets too.
During the night, Megan runs away into the city where she ends up at the boardwalk and onto the beach. Jessica and Olivia start to panic; the police become involved while Megan is all alone.
Walking on the beach at midnight, Megan runs into Mr. Clide. Fearing that he might hurt her, Megan tries self-defense and accidently gives him a black eye. After he explains, Megan apologizes and they sit on the sand and start a conversation. Mr. Clide explains that he has only his daughter, Katrina (Maddison Walker), to love because his wife died after she had surgery, his son moved to Alaska, and his first daughter died at birth. Megan realizes that if Mr. Clide was able to move on, she could too. After confirming her father is gone but not forgotten, she returns home.
Olivia has a long conversation with Lawrence on the phone; he forgived her but she can't trust him. Jessica goes into Megan's bedroom and looks at the scrapbook; something telling her to move on. As she is trapped in that thought, Megan returns and the famly is reunited. Lawrence comes over and apologizes to the girls for the secret. Olivia kisses him passionately and they decide to continue on dating.
Almost a whole year later Mr. Clide falls down his steps and breaks his neck. He dies in the hospital and Megan is invited to the funeral. Olivia and Lawrence, now engaged, accompany her, Jessica too. When words were said, Megan asked to step up and say some herself.
When she did she recalled the night she was on the beach with Mr. Clide and said, "Truth be told, we should all move on..." She is applauded and leaves with her family.
The movie ends with Mr. Clide's three year old daughter, Katrina, in the parking lot, with her foster parents, waving at Megan who waves back.
