TronixCountry

TronixCountry, also known as Tronix Country and Tronixcountry, is a firm in the controversial installment credit business, founded by Bruce Mattare, formerly of BlueHippo Funding, who is the President, CEO and General Manager of the company. TronixCountry aims at customers with poor credit, including senior citizens, and offers personal computers, LCD televisions, and other high-tech items.

History

The Springfield, Virginia firm aims to distinguish itself from its predecessors by providing more straightforward information to customers, e.g. it is explicit on its website and in its radio ads about the total cost of an advertised item, and compares itself with other programs offered to its target market. Mark Huffman, in the consumer news section of ConsumerAffairs.com, suggests consumers shop around for a basic computer before signing up for a program like that of Tronix Country LLC. The company is notable for providing a controversial product,

This company sucks....this article is a lie the BBB has revoked their membership. The person I spoke with Karla was very rude and discourteous to me. At one point she just began to argue with me and tell me that it wasn't her problem. Stay away from this company and hope that you don't talk to Karla.

They basically tell you, if you read between the lines, if you send us enough to cover what the computer costs us we will send what ever computer we get the best deal on at the time. And we will take our 1200.00 profit on a computer that should cost 400.00 in 44 more payments at 29.95 a week. All you have to do is send us 400.00 first.

I Pastor a church and applied for this program. I gave the initial documents required, a voided check signed by two signatories. I received a call saying that the company had never dealt with an organization before and needed more information. I provided a copy of the bank signature card showing all five signatures including the two on the voided check. There was an issue with the mailing address versus the delivery address. I stated to the Manager, Tiffany, that the reason was that there was not a secure drop location at the church for the item(s). I was then told by Tiffany, who is suppose to be a manager, that the account was approved and the product was being shipped. I arrived at my office and Tiffany even called that number to tell me that she received all my documantation and I now have a shipping date. She indicated that the “auditing dept” want to make sure they understood the difference between the mailing address and the delivery address, which I again explained was unsecured. I came home and even had a recording stating that the product was being shipped. One day after I received that call, Miguel who is Tiffany’s boss (he said) called me on my cell (oh yes I gave my home, church office and cell numbers) telling me to best protect identity theft I need to give him a copy of my drivers licence and a copy of my social security card to identify who I really was. One of the customer service representatives told me that they denied our application and could not refund the Church’s money, but would could offer us store credit. So, let me get this right. They did not approve the account after all the documention, but want to offer store credit for an account that was not approved. I am on my way to 8001 Forbes Place, St 211, Springfield Va on Monday November 2, 2009 and I will get resolution or have the police come to that location and file a formal theft by deception charge.

COMPANY RESPONSE TO MANUEL

Our goal is to make our customers happy, because we know those customers will tell others about us. When a customer is disappointed, we realize the potential for that experience to be told to all, as evidenced by the above posting. For this particular customer, we believe that the policy we have in place, which actually is there to protect him, was what led to his disappointment.

We take identity theft and fraudulent use of another person’s bank account VERY SERIOUSLY. When a customer provides us with a voided check that does not have the customer’s name on it, we require additional documentation proving that the customer is an authorized signer on the bank account. This was requested in this case because the voided check that was provided only included an entity name and not the actual customer’s name on it.

Additionally, when we are about to finance a customer, we run a validation report on that person for identity purposes. We do this to protect the consumer whose identity information we’ve been provided – often from people who live hundreds of miles away and who we’ve only spoken to on the phone. We also run the report to protect the company from fraud, which costs companies and the government huge sums of money, which we all pay for. Our process matches the name, address and other identity criteria we receive from our customers to the information in these validation reports.

While this may be far and above what some companies do to ensure they are transacting business with the right customer, we considerate it a bare minimum to help ensure we avoid the potential for bank account fraud and identity theft, as we do report to the credit bureaus. If the validation report comes back inconclusive, we request additional identification documents, which was the case for this customer. We would hope that -- by having such a policy in place – it would provide greater peace of mind and lead to a more positive experience. The implication here is not that this particular customer was trying to defraud us, but the apparent reason for the customer’s frustration was because of the additional documentation requirements, which were necessary for the reasons stated above. Our policy is that once we can validate the identity of the customer and he or she has met the other financing criteria, we will finance and ship their product. We stand by our policy of requesting additional identity documentation when information is unverifiable.

I worked at a call center for tronix country....We tell people we're located in Virginia when we are really located in Connecticut....Why, you ask???? Because it's a huge scam and we don't want you to know where we are cause people get REALLY mad when they get ripped off....Imagine that??...Give them a call and ask them how much the computer is right off the bat....they will refuse to tell you and say in exact words "the prices vary depending on the package that you pick, I'd be happy to go over the whole program with you"....When really the prices don't vary at all, there is a desktop and a laptop and they are both the cheapest Dells that you can buy at any given time. In fact we will get fired if we tell you the price before we tell you all of the specs of the computer and describe the program....TRUE story.. AND.....Just so you are all aware, when you ask us the final price....we are gonna read some rebuttal that starts off "I think you'd be happy to discover that the price is right about in the middle of the pack for a brand new brand name desktop/laptop computer.....BUT the truth is that we aren't giving you the real price there either....And we never will during the whole conversation...OH...AND I almost forgot...The so called free shit you are getting, the printer, t.v, digi cam, MP4 player, and $250 worth of software (which is really just a disc with programs that you already have on your computer)...Are the crappiest pieces of junk you can imagine...Meaning they aren't name brand or anything and you don't get them till you pay off your computer anyway. So really they aren't free, you are paying for them seeing that you are paying about $2000 for a crappy desktop computer. Don't feel bad they treat their employees like crap too... We have to sell computers to 15% of the people that call us all week to make comission which is $3 dollars per computer that you sell... So translation....you never make commision you always ALMOST get it....Why??? because the bosses tweak the numbers to make sure they don't have to pay you....Anyway....Make sure you don't swear at the cust. service reps cause then they can make sure the call doesnt count against them..... TAKE IT FROM AN EX EMPLOYEE THIS IS A SCAM OF THE HIGHEST ORDER!!!!! DON'T DO IT PEOPLE!!!! WE ARE GONNA TAKE MORE MONEY THEN WE SAY WE WILL....AND THAT'S A PROMISE. Also....They will tell you that you have 7 days to cancel from the day you order and they are gonna push that on you so you buy it but the truth is the customer service line is gonna tell you that your order hasn't been processed yet so that you go over the 7 day "grace period" and have to pay the $99 activation payment. DON"T DO IT!!!!
