Trevor Hickens

Biography

Trevor Hickens is a well known radio presonality who works for KWYR studios in Winner, South Dakota. He resides as the music director, and the evening show host. Other noted personalities from KWYR include Scott Schramm, Lisa Jay, and Ross "Boof" Brendel.

Trevor Hickens was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on July 22, 1987. He then moved to Yankton, South Dakota with his mother while she attened USD and Mount Marty College. During her education she remarried. After the birth of his younger brother, Travis, the family moved to Sioux City, Iowa. After the birth of two younger sisters and the finishing of his mother's schooling, the family moved to Winner, SD.

After many unnsuccesful attempts at landing a part-time job at KWYR, he was finally called back for an interview by then program director Jason Evans. Trevor was hired as a part timer, and went on the air for the first time on December 4, 2004.

In August 2006, Trevor went to school at Black Hills State University (BHSU) in Spearfish, South Dakota where he majored in Mass Communication. After two semesters, he returned to Winner and accepted an opening for an interim music director/ evening show host. Trevor has been working full time with KWYR since August 2007. After his contract expires in December, he plans on returning to BHSU to chase an education in marketing, and possible work in the Black Hills radio market.

Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out my staff bio! In due time I plan to add some exciting links, as well as a Netpoll or two for everyone to enjoy. I'm the music director here at KWYR, and also the evening show host for Magic 93. When I'm not taking long walks on beaches and reading novels, I'm just hanging out at my apartment or watching movies. I also enjoy to read books about the apocolypse.

Some of my duties here at KWYR include updating KWYR Online and adding new music to the library for Country 1260 and Magic 93. I'm always looking for new music ideas, so if you have any, fill out the simple form below to let me know what you would like to hear!

I was born in Norfolk, NE... and ended up making my way to Sioux City, IA where I really took up an interest in radio. After moving to Winner in 2000, I applied for a job here at KWYR. After many unsucsseful attempts, I finally landed myself an interview. After working part-time for about 2 1/2 years, they offered me the full time position that I'd been dreaming for. I'm now working here as the music director until December 31st. After that, I plan on going back to Black Hills State University and continuing my education.

Trevor can be heard Monday through Friday from 4PM to 9PM on Magic 93. His special programs include New Music Monday, Winning Wednesday, and Free For All Friday. Magic 93 is heard on 100.1 in Pierre and Ft. Pierre South Dakota, and also 93.7 for south central South Dakota and north central Nebraska.
