Treaty of Hiroshima

Summary

Prior to the recent death of the former Indonesian President Mohammed Suharto, an alledged meeting between he and former Australian Prime minister John Howard took place, to discuss plans for the 'Treaty of Hiroshima'. Primary sources suggest that this agreement involved not only Indonesia and Australia, but also Japan and the People's Republic of China. Mr. Howard also proposed the removal of troops from East Timor in an effort to bridge the gap between the two nations.

History

Kevin Rudd's recent signing of the 'Kyoto Protocol' represents a dawning of a 'New Australia'. Australian ties with Asia have only increased since Rudd's 2007 election, whilst Australia's faith in the American Government has decreased significantly due to their un-willingness to reduce greenhouse gas emmisions.

The 'Treaty of Hiroshima' should forge the beginning of an Australasian alliance.
