The Tour de Moose is a pub crawl / bike race held annually in St. Louis, Missouri. Modeled after the Tour de Donut, riders in the Tour de Moose traverse a 20 - 25 mile course with stops at local bars, receiving time bonuses for alcoholic beverages consumed and games participated in. To date, the tour has had stops in South St. Louis, Tower Grove South, Grand Oak Hill, , Soulard, and the .
History The Tour de Moose was founded by Kevin Werner in 2005. The annual bike race was intended to be a celebration of Kevin Werner's birthday, friendship and an appreciation of the diverse neighborhoods within the City of St. Louis. Since its inception, the tour has grown from 20 riders to over 60. 100 riders are expected for the 2008 race.
Past Races 2005 The 2005 Tour de Moose was held on October 15.
2006 The 2006 Tour de Moose was held on October 21.
2007 The 2007 Tour de Moose was held on October 20. The route was as follows:

Over 60 riders participated in the 2007 Tour. Participants completed the race riding mountain bikes, road bikes, a BMX and a quadcycle.
Current Race 2008 The 2008 is scheduled for October 18. The tentative route is as follows:

Rules and Regulations The Tour de Moose is governed by a board of riders who meet monthly to discuss improvements to the race. The main focus is on routes, safety, volunteering, games and awards.
Tour de Moose Championship Scoring (MCS) The MCS was created to determine a champion in a manner that eliminates the need for timekeeping. The MCS was implemented after review and approval by the Tour Governance Board. Before 2008, the tour champion was selected through the use of timekeeping and bonuses awarded.
Using MCS, riders earn chips for completing a variety of tasks. The champion is the individual whom has collected the greatest number of chips.
CHIP EARNING CATEGORIES
*MOOSE OUT - Upon check-in, an individual will receive 1 chip for each moose item on their person and/or their bike. *ROUTE COMPLETION - A rider will receive 1 chip for each completed route. *DRINKS DRUNK - An individual will receive 1 chip for each drink drunk. *GAMES - An individual will receive 1 chip for participating in the game at each location. *TRIVIA - An individual will receive 1 chip for each trivia question they answer correctly. *MOOSE CHIPS - An individual will receive 1 bonus chip for each drink they buy the birthday boy and/or friends of the Tour De Moose.
In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the person with the highest total in the Moose Out category. If necessary, the 2nd tiebreaker will be in the Drinks Drunk category, then the Games, and finally Trivia categories. If a tie still exists, then more than one champion will be declared.
The 10 Commandments of the Tour de Moose
1. Thou shall not run a red light.
2. Thou shall not ride without a helmet.
3. Thou shall not ride too aggressively that it puts other riders at risk.
4. Thou shall not ride on sidewalks.
5. Thou shall not drink so much that thou are carelessly weaving in front of oncoming cars or otherwise endangering yourself or others.
6. Thou shall perform some maintenance on thoust bike before the ride.
7. Thou shall follow all the routes.
8. Thou shall be flexible and realize that other rules may be imposed on the day of the ride.
9. Thou shall not get too competitive and forget that this ride is about having fun.
10. Thou shall have no other moose before Moose.
