Torsten Heinrich

Torsten Heinrich (born 1982 in Würzburg) is a German historian, YouTuber, and former politician. He is best known for his analyses of military history and current conflicts on his YouTube channel "Militär & Geschichte mit Torsten Heinrich". Heinrich was also the founding chairman of the Young Alternative for Germany (Junge Alternative für Deutschland), the youth wing of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
Early Life and Education
Heinrich developed an interest in military history at the age of nine. He later pursued this passion academically, earning a Master of Arts in history from the University of Würzburg. His studies included research on antisemitism.
Political Career
In June 2013, Heinrich co-founded the Young Alternative for Germany (JA) and served as its first chairman. The JA was established as the youth organization of the AfD. Heinrich left the AfD in March 2014. During his tenure, the JA faced criticism for being "too far right" and was involved in controversies, including an unauthorized invitation to UK politician Nigel Farage and an anti-feminist campaign.
YouTube Career
After leaving politics, Heinrich focused on sharing his expertise through digital media. He runs the YouTube channel "Militär & Geschichte mit Torsten Heinrich", where he provides analyses of military history and current conflicts, notably the war in Ukraine. As of 2025, his channel has garnered significant viewership, with over 238,000 subscribers. Heinrich utilizes open-source intelligence to offer detailed insights into ongoing military events.
