Tony Petrarca is the chief meteorologist at WPRI-TV in Providence, Rhode Island. He joined the station in March of 1987. A member of the American Meteorological Society, he is a graduate of Lyndon State College. Well known in Rhode Island, Petrarca has been the recipient of numerous awards, including being voted "Most Accurate Meteorologist" six times by the readers of Rhode Island Monthly, and "Best Weathercast" by the Associated Press for six years in a row. He was also voted "Best Meteorologist" by the readers of Rhode Island monthly in 2005 2007, and 2009. Following the layoff of WJAR-TV chief meteorologist Gary Ley after 24 years, Petrarca became the most tenured meteorologist in the Providence-New Bedford market. He has been employed at WPRI for his entire career of 22 years. Petrarca has also spent the most time at WPRI of any of its anchors or reporters.
