Tommy Griffin (basketball)

Tommy Griffin is an American basketball player and later basketball coach. He was a basketball center, and a track standout at the NAIA league's Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He has coached Oklahoma Christian School basketball program for many years.
Residing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Griffin, of Afro-Haitian descent married Gail Griffin. Their children Taylor Griffin (born April 18, 1986) and Blake Griffin (born March 16, 1989) are well-known professional basketball players. Both played at Oklahoma Christian School under their father, who was the head coach in the school's basketball program and later in the NCAA basketball leagues for University of Oklahoma basketball program. Taylor was the 48th overall pick of the 2009 NBA draft. He joined the Phoenix Suns for the 2009 NBA Summer League. After a short stay there, Taylor played in NBA D-League and later on in Italian professional league. His younger brother Blake was selected first overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2009 NBA draft, and has played for the Clippers currently on the Detroit Pistons. He has been an NBA All-Star and All-NBA selection for several years.
