Tofmicq

ToFMiCQ or "Trapezium of Full Marks in Calculation Questions" is a table on that tells you how to achieve your best marks in physics exam style questions. It's theory was founded by Mr. Spencer on the 17th November 2011 when teaching physics to his top set Year 9 group about doing questions that they might face in exams and how would be the best way to get around it.
How does it work?
Tofmicq splits down the process of exam questions in physics into 4 separate processes that simplifies questions and works them through in a logical process.
It does this by:
Step 1: In the top left side of the trapezium you put down all of the information that you know. Or "Facts and Figures" that are explained in the question that are relevant to the solution or provide useful information for any equations that one has to do. For example:
Time = 13.62 secs
Energy = 200 secs
this is to identify the facts in the question and sort out the relevant stuff from the rest of the question.
Step 2: On the top right of the page you put the formulae to work out the answer or to use one on a formulae sheet for example:
PE/T for power energy divided by time.
This is to create an equation where you can place numbers in and out of the equation.
Step 3: Now you have to apply that equation as a calculation by inserting the numbers that you used in step 1 into the equation in the right pace so that by mentally or using an appliance work out the answer. For example:
By using the equation p=e/t you insert the energy which from the example is 200joules into the equation making it
P = 200/t and then finally the time which was
13.62 seconds giving you the equation of
p=200/13.62 which if you work it out the power is 14.879...
Step 4: You may have the right answer but you still need to work out the unit of measurement that you need to have for the equation which in this case is watts which brings the total answer to
14.879...W which you put in the bottom right side of the trapezium.
