Toast (clothing)

Toast is a UK-based retailer of fashion clothing, accessories and homeware.
Brand history
The brand was founded in 1997 by James and Jessica Seaton who met at Birmingham University where they studied archaeology and ancient history. They worked as archaeologists in Wales and established a knitwear company in a Carmarthenshire farmhouse. They then expanded into other types of clothing and sold by mail order. The name Toast was chosen as it "conjured up the spirit of long, lazy weekend breakfasts".
According to Jessica Seaton:

'It's non-fashion fashion....The clothes that we've become known for making make you feel good, a bit special, but they don't wear you, and they're comfortable - and that combination is quite hard to find.'

The brand further expanded into household accessories such as linen towels, Irish bedlinen, and pillows.
The company has studios in Swansea and London and French Connection has become a major investor in the company.<ref name="The Guardian"/>
