Tia Kar

Tia Kar is an Indian Idol 5 finalist,a show that follows the extremely popular Idol series format, which began with Pop Idol in the UK. She was in the top 6 of the show.
Personal
Her father is a playback singer, while her mother is a professor in Calcutta University. Tia is a first year fashion designing and law student in Amity, Pune.
She developed an interest in singing through her father. Though Tia hasn’t learnt music formally, she feels that she has the potential to learn more. Tia has grown up with her aunt in Kanpur since her father was mostly travelling while her mother was busy with her teaching.
Tia participated in Indian Idol 5 to fulfil her father and uncle’s dream to see her as a successful singer. Her favourite singers are Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. In fact, Tia takes Sunidhi as her idol and gets nervous while performing in front of her.
Indian Idol 5
She was one of Anu Malik's favorite contestants in the show. She went up to top 6 of the show and was finally eliminated after getting into the bottom 3 for the first time. She was admired by the judges for her constant improvement. She came across as one of the most popular faces of Indian Idol 5 bagging high number of votes every time.
Upcoming Projects
Tia bagged 2 big banner Bollywood movies after Indian Idol 5. The first one is Pehli Baar Pyar Kiya Hai with Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra directed by Sridhar Shetty. Tia plays Amitabh Bachchan's daughter in it. While the second one is Happy Christmas with Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone directed by Aziz Mirza.
