Threen is a term originally coined by J. R. R. Tolkien (1892-1973) for a hobbit that is in their thirties. Just as teen is the term for a period of human adolescence (or tens), tween is a further period of hobbit adolescence (or twenties) due to their longer life span. Threen is used to refer to a hobbit in their thirties, but this was less common.

Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring, a hobbit in their early thirties, a period of adolescence for hobbits, who have longer lifespans than humans and aren't considered adults until age 33. * "Threen" To run really fast on a slick surface, e.g. freshly waxed floor. Let's go threening out on the parking lot after it stops raining.
