Thomm Quackenbush

Thomm Quackenbush is an American author of contemporary fantasy and horror.
He was born in Cold Spring, New York and grew up in Fishkill, New York.
Much of his work is based on humorous looks at the fantasy and horror genres, as well as urban legends, including his first published novel in the Night’s Dream Series, We Shadows. Most of his works are set in the Hudson Valley, where he lives.
The second book in the series, Danse Macabre, was published in 2012]],, and continues the story begun in We Shadows. In interviews, he has stated that several more books are expected in this series.
Quackenbush has worked with Cave Drawing Ink on two comic anthologies, “Rise of the Outlanders!” and “Beside the Still Waters”, where his stories tended toward humor and shock.
Writing Style
Quackenbush's style is often humorous and irreverent toward the tropes of the genre. In We Shadows, the protagonist uses humor and quips even when facing mortal peril. Generally his protagonists are ordinary people to whom extraordinary events happen and he keeps his fantasy closely tied to reality (in “Danse Macabre”, a vampire hunter relies on garlic spray and Kevlar vests for protection as much as magic). Quackenbush embellished his stories with facts from mythology or science.
