This Is Anfield

This Is Anfield (.com) is an online Liverpool F.C. fanzine, founded in late 2001 by two passionate supporters of the Merseyside club.

The fanzine (often abbreviated to TIA) caters for all things Liverpool FC related with regular articles and columns from well known authors and writers, some of whome who have gone on to produce books about the club. The updates on topical and current affairs surrounding the club are supplemented by a huge archive of club information, history, player profiles, statistics and interviews. Also, recently the site has increased its video content as it continues to grow and diversify.

For an unofficial website This Is Anfield has interviewed several former Liverpool players and in summer 2006 conducted an interview with chief executive Rick Parry. Their other major coup was the breaking of Nicolas Anelka's arrival before the mainstream media had the news in 2002, as well as being the first to break news of Robbie Fowler's return to Anfield.

This Is Anfield has been featured in various media including Sky Sports News, GM:TV breakfast show, Four Four Two magazine, The Mirror, The Liverpool Echo and The Guardian newspapers, Shoot and Match magazines, matchday magazines for the FA Cup Final and Semi Finals in 2006 and Sunderland FC.

Campaigns

TIA members have been active in support of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign, and have raised money for the cause with charity matches on nearby Stanley Park against rival Everton websites. TIA have also been involved in the Billy Liddell and Sir Kenny Dalglish Campaigns and the Reclaim The Kop movement, as well as the Free Michael Shields campaign.

TIA also strongly support the Spirit of Shankly supporters union and the group ShareLiverpoolFC.

A website team has also taken part in many charity football matches against rival supporters teams, raising money for the Hillsborough Justice Campaign and Ray Kennedy 'Ray of Hope Appeal'.

New Media

This Is Anfield was one of the first football websites to offer SMS goal alerts - although this has ceased now - and it's Podcast show which started in early 2008 is a professional addition to the site, with high profile guests having included Peter Hooton of pop group The Farm, former Liverpool players Nigel Spackman and John Barnes and Rogan Taylor of ShareLFC.

Members

With over 11,000 registered members, 2,000 pages and a vast team of contributors, This Is Anfield is one of the most popular fanzine websites for any English club.
