The Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation

The Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation is a Houston, based non-profit 501(c)(3) status organization that supports research dedicated to finding a cure for debilitating headaches.
Founded in 2014, the foundation has partnered with the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and University of Texas Health Science Center to fund leading research dedicated to these neurological disorders, and bringing an end to the pain they cause. It is also a component fund of the Greater Houston Community Foundation, a public charity with 501(c)(3) status.
History
The Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation was founded in 2014 by Houstonian, Jimmy Erwin, who learned that 12% of the American population suffers from debilitating headaches, including migraines and cluster headaches after losing his own son, Will Erwin, to cluster headaches.
The the National Institutes of Health (NIF) estimated $45 million of annual funding support goes to headache and migraine research -.03% of the total $146 billion the organization allocates. The Foundation was established to change this statistic by supporting research that is dedicated to finding a cure for all debilitating headaches.
Dr. Dong Kim, director of the Mischer Neuroscience Institute (MNI) is the lead physician conducting the research funded by the foundation. Dr. Kim leads the clinical neuroscience efforts for the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System as well as The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Mission
The mission of The Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation is to bring relief to sufferers, globally, who are afflicted with debilitating headaches by funding research focused on finding a cure.
Activities
The Will Golf Tournament is an annual fundraiser held by The Foundation. The net proceeds earned from the tournament are specifically designated for dedicated headache research.
