The Royal Bet

The Royal Bet winner Alex King, recieved £100,000 cash from a London socialite and event organiser Edward Davenportby gatecrashing into a movie world premiere and joining a line-up of A-list celebrities to meet Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
After the royal film premiere of Alan Bennett's The History Boys, King infiltrated the cast line-up to shake hands with Prince Charles, and exchange pleasantries with the Duchess of Cornwall, before being rumbled, rebuked by the police, then let back into the auditorium to watch the film.It was the largest jackpot ever won for a gatecrashing stunt. King has garnered even more publicity since his win due to several well-publicized brushes with the law as well as personal tragedies.
King waved to waiting crowds outside The Odeon in London’s Leicester Square, then jumped over a barrier and walked in, chatting to comic actor Stephen Fry. King was introduced to the royal couple, along with Fry, Bennett and cast including Lovejoy star Richard Griffiths and Rising Damp actress Frances de la Tour. King had told Prince Charles he should be in a James Bond movie and said Camilla looked nice. King was only unmasked after 's royal photographer Arthur Edwards pointed him out.
The bet jackpot with Davenport was a £100 thousand annuity or £100.000 cash.
A spokesman for Charles' charity The Prince's Trust, which organised the premiere, said there was no risk to the prince or his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
