The Resonator

The Resonator is a graphic novel created by Prentis Rollins. It takes place in the year 3157. Before this year, starvation and war ruled over Earth. Fighting after constant fighting, sleeping died out in human needs. People can still sleep. They can choose drugs (legal) or resonators (illegal).
In 3157, A uranium miner named Aaron Bronson visits a sleeping merchant at a Sleep Station. The Sleep Station looks like a giant whale-seahorse-sea monster. Instead of drugs, Bronson chooses to use a Resonator. He never experienced dreams before and only Resonators could do that. When Bronson dreams for the first time, he finds himself in a forest. The Resonator visits him in his dream and the two do things such as rolling in the dirt and chasing after prey in the grass.
Characters
Aaron Bronson- A young uranium miner whose father was caught stealing something valuable (what he stole isn't said in the novel). Aaron's father was sent to Mars to put in a labor camp or killed. Aaron and the reader never know. In the beginning, he stays to himself and is very cautious. When he meets the Resonator, he feels a connective bond between him and it in the dreams they share. He grows more compassionate toward life and the simple pleasures it has to offer. Ever since he was young, he wanted to see Earth.
The Resonator- A white cat to us but to the cast in the novel, they don't know what creature the Resonator is. Bronson believes it has special powers but the sleep merchant says "Its just an animal that likes to sleep on warm bodies." The Resonator grows feelings for Bronson when they meet and visits him in his dreams. The Resonator also appears to have the power to make people sleep without drugs or at the aid of a Resonator. In the graphic novel, Bronson described the Resonator has a feminine; making the reader believe the Resonator is female.
Fenright- A secretary at SETP. Fenright knows nothing but boredom and work and sometimes gets tired of it and her job. She listens to Bronson's story throughout the beginning to the end. While he's telling her, she begins to forget about her life being dull and nothing but work.
Stander- An ambitious, headstrong, law-orderer who thinks big of himself. For a while, the reader believes that Stander is the true villain of the story. But in some parts, Stander shows that he can be a reasonable human being only doing his job and not wanting people to get killed in the end. The only compassion he shows is when he begs Bronson not to head for full speed to Earth. He knew Bronson could be killed by the harsh landing.
many of the structures and vehicles are very organic feeling, as well as being ancient. Oddly, the sole purpose of the Uranium mining vessels is to find Uranium to power the vessels engines, to find more Uranium.
