The Journeyman Project Tribute is a fan-based HD remake of the classic The Journeyman Project, led by Andy Curry and his crew. The game will have the same storyline as the original game with some additions, and with improved HD graphics made from scratch using Blender. The Journeyman Project Tribute is currently in pre-production; the project was launched in March 2011. Development Game engine The Journeyman Project Tribute uses the Blender engine as base technology from Blender Foundation. Blender is a powerful open source 3D graphics application that can be used for creating 3d models, rendered stills, animated film or visual effects. The goal of Andy Curry is that all the game footage (environments, walking animations etc.) be done completely within Blender engine and put it all together using QuickTime VR to keep the project open source. Development of the project was slowed due to a combination of changing personal circumstances and ongoing research into the Cycles render engine - the new renderer being developed for Blender. However, after much testing of Cycles and polishing of existing models using the traditional internal renderer, Andy decided to go ahead with the internal system. Renderfarm.fi Some scenes from the project have been rendered out using the Renderfarm.fi rendering community; a distributed computational network. This has meant that scenes which would have taken days if not weeks to render, could be completed in 24 hours or less. Andy would like to personally thank everyone at Renderfarm.fi for their help during the project.
