Plot outline
Rebecca Howe determines that her beauty is limiting her ability to progress in the business world. She enlists the help of Dr. Lilith Sternin to aid her in her transformation. Lilith makes Rebecca into a clone of herself with a restrictive, black business suit and tamed, pulled-back hairstyle. In the end the company offers Lilith the job that Rebecca wants.
Woody Boyd, the naive Indiana-born farm boy-turned-bartender has troubles of his own. His wealthy Boston girlfriend, Kelly Gaines, is having a birthday party and her father has invited Woody to attend. The gang at the bar explain to Woody that Mr. Gaines may have invited him to put him in awkward position. Kelly is accustomed to expensive gifts, but Woody may be embarrassed if his gift to Kelly is less spectacular. Dr. Frasier Crane proposes Woody gives a gift from the heart
Woody loves Kelly, but believes this may be the end of their relationship. In a vain attempt to satisfy Kelly, he buys her a piece of jewelry he cannot afford. Eventually he is able to explain that he is unable to buy her all the things she is accustomed to. Once she comes to understand, she quips how silly she is, because she was planning on giving Woody a Porsche for his birthday.<ref name=imdb />
Quotes
Using your looks
Lilith: There are two approaches a woman can take in turning her look to her advantage. The first is to play upon the male sexual drive and turn yourself into an object of desire. I have opted for the second.
Rebecca: What's that?
Lilith: Scaring them stupid.
Oblivious
Kelly: Woody, that was beautiful.
Woody: You really liked it?
Kelly: Oh, I liked it more than anything.
Woody: Thanks.
