The Gak

The Gak was the improvised name for a band which featured James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich from Metallica; Axl Rose, Duff McKagan and Slash from Guns N' Roses; and Sebastian Bach from Skid Row. They played at a party held at Hollywood Palladium in 1990 for RIP Magazine, prior to Metallica and Guns N' Roses touring together in 1992 on the "Live N' Loud" Tour.
The band played the GN'R song "You're Crazy", Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls", Skid Row's "Piece of Me", Nazareth's 'Hair of the Dog' and two versions of Metallica's "Whiplash", with Bach singing the first and Hetfield singing the second. An impromptu Gak Reunion was held at Oracle Arena as Bach, Ulrich and Rose performed together on the same stage.
It was called "gak" because that was the nickname that Axl Rose used to put to Sebastian Bach, this means, gak instead of back. There is another version which says that Gak was the first name that came to Axl after a long discussion.
