The Detensor is a method of spinal treatment which consist of specially designed mattress.
It is also used in treatment of chronically obstructive respiratory diseases.

The purpose of the Detensor is to treat people with back pain, various back diseases and for overall health of the back. It has been enormously successful in Europe and Russia since the early 1980’s.
Kurt Leonhard Kienlein is the inventor of the Detensor. It was conceived in Austria in 1977.
Treatment
The Detensor is a combination of Therapy as well as acupuncture.
The Detensor is a long term traction therapy system consisting of a corrugated polyurethane foam mattress which comes in two main forms, an orthosis mat (recumbency 18%) for day and an orthosis bed (recumbency 5%) for night time rest. The corrugated foam top is called lamellas. This lamella system is patented by Dr. Kienlein.
The Detensor long term therapy mat 18% comes in the following densities:
* Hardness 1 up to 88 lbs.
* Hardness 2 from 88 - 143 lbs.
* Hardness 2 plus from 145 - 209 lbs.
* Hardness 3 from 212 - 253 lbs.
