The Constant Outsider

The Constant Outsider chronicles the author's intense struggle to fit in and be accepted into the challenging and violent environments of Dorchester, South Boston, and beyond. Most notable is the period of time that the author spent both living and working in South Boston during its most tumultuous period in recent history. The author operated a gas station/repair shop at the corner of Emerson and East Third streets, in Southie, until 1987. The violent influences of mobster Whitey Bulger, Forced Busing, and the oil embargo/gasoline shortage of the 1970s, all combined to create the authors amazing stories of danger and survival.
It is a true account of having to make some tough choices, as well as many that were not wise. The resulting concequences of those choices range from harrowing, near death experiences, to hilarious events.Throughout the book, there are several blank pages which are designated for "Reader's Notes". The author hopes that each reader will utilize these pages by documenting his or her own life changing experiences. He believes that we can learn a lot about how we became the person that we are, by looking at our past influences. Those influences include environment, people, choices, and consequences. The author states,"Each person is a book waiting to be written, and that book, if written, results in a person explained."

Publication
The Constant Outsider is being published by Xlibris publishing company, and will be released sometime in April or May of 2008. It will be available for purchase at Xlibris.com, Amazon.com, and other online sources.
