The Booth Brewing Co.

The Booth Brewing Co. is a microbrewery based in Seoul, South Korea. It started in 2013 as a single pub, The Booth, in Seoul's Kyungridan district, and quickly expanded with The Booth Coldchain, an importer of famous beers such as Mikkeller, Evil Twin Brewing, and 8-wired, and as of 2016 now has 6 pubs, a brewery in Pangyo, South Korea, an upcoming brewery in Eureka, California, and headquarters in Ichon-dong, Seoul. The Booth was founded by the Economist journalist Daniel Tudor, an ex-doctor of Korean Medicine Heeyoon Kim, and ex-investment advisor Sunghoo Yang.
History
The craft beer industry in South Korea was practically non-existent until 2013, when a handful of microbreweries started experimenting with micro-brewing and imported craft beer. Prior to this change, one of the major reasons for the barrenness of this now booming industry was the strict regulations put forth by the Korean government, " beer sales by any player incapable of putting out at least a million litres a year." In just 2.5 years, the beer-scene in South Korea has completely changed to make craft beer readily available in almost all areas of Seoul.
At the center of this fast-paced craft-beer trend is The Booth Brewing Co. and a couple other breweries that acted as trailblazers in Kyungridan a few years ahead. Daniel Tudor, who back in 2013 had written an article on the blandness of mass-produced lager in South Korea, helped rouse public opinion for loosening regulations on beer-production.<ref name=":0" /> He soon partnered up with Kim and Yang to find the first The Booth pub in Kyungridan, and the pub has quickly expanded over a span of 2, 3 years to become an importer, chain of pubs, and full-fledged microbrewery.
