The Big Idea () is a New Zealand-based news and media website specialising in the visual and performance arts sectors. The site describes itself as "the largest, and the leading online resource for the arts in New Zealand" and claims to have over 50,000 members. History The Big Idea grew out the Arts Work Project, a partnership established by Creative New Zealand in 1999. It was officially launched by Helen Clark (then Prime Minister of New Zealand) in December 2001. A charitable trust was formed to manage the site in 2003.<ref name=about/> The web hub was overhauled and relaunched in 2009. The Big Idea is largely sponsored by Foundation North, Auckland Council, Creative New Zealand, and the Lion Foundation. The organisation's CEO since 2016 has been Annie Ackerman.<ref name=about/> See Also
