The Beve Trophy

The Beve Trophy is an amateur team golf event played annually in Scotland. Two teams, captained by James Tonner and Kevin Rush, compete over two rounds in a one-day event. The team with the most points at the end of the day is crowned Beve Champion. Team Rush currently hold the Beve Trophy.
History
The Beve Trophy was devised by James Tonner in September 2007, and is modelled on the Seve Trophy (named after five time major winner Seve Ballesteros).
Format
The inaugural Beve Trophy saw 16 players line up in two teams of 8, with players pairing up in greensomes matches in the morning and fourballs in the afternoon. From 2009 onwards, the event has seen 24 players line up, with 6 matches in the morning and 6 in the afternoon. The first team to reach 6.5 points holds the Beve Trophy for the following 12 months.
Results
The event was first played in Troon at the Darley and Lochgreen courses in June 2008 and finished in a 4-4 draw. However the second match did produce a winner, with Team Rush coming out on top, winning 7-5 over the two courses at Dullatur in Cumbernauld.
The 2010 instalment will take place at the Belleisle and Seafield courses in Ayr on Saturday 26 June.
