The Bantalas

The Bantalas was a Magazine entirely dedicated to the Arts (Art Painting, Photograph, Prose and Poetry)
It was created by Francisco Santos (Founder and Publisher until 1980) when he was studying in the Secondary School.
It was published every six months, from 1977 up to 1982.
His importance was well-known in the formation of new authors and Angolan artists.

Bantalas
The magazine's name, Bantalas, was not chosen by accident - It was a metaphor for Bantu people and important to the construction of a new generation of artists.
After bursting onto the Angolan literary scene in 1977, the journal folded due to differences of political opinion, being the last on May 1982.
