C. Rathinasamy Nadar was a pioneer in the business of manufacturing safety matches in Kalugumalai, Tamil Nadu, India. He also contributed generously to the Lady of Lourdes Church and to other social causes. His son, R. Susai, was the first citizen of Kalugumalai to embrace the become a Roman Catholic priest. His elder brother, R. George, became a Jesuit. His son R. Paulraj currently lives with his wife Rosary and son Bennie, as well as Bennie's wife and their two daughters. His elder son, Thadeus Anand, now resides in Chennai (Madras), with his wife and two daughters. The safety matches business in this region owes a lot to C. Rathinasamy Nadar, who insisted on quality and safety standards during the times when many people were not concerned with or sometimes not aware of them. |
