In the science fiction novels and subsequent OVA, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Terraism is a cult, which claims that humans should go back to Earth (Terra). The Earth cult was a secret society which emphasized that humans should all return to their home planet of Earth and reestablish its fame as the capital of the universe. While their capital and holiest temple is on Earth beneath the rubble of Mount Everest, they have many churches around the galaxy from the Free Planets capital of Heinessen to the former Imperial capital of Odin, and a very strong presence in the new capital of Phezzan. In particular, they held great influence over the former Phezzani government before its overthrow and reannexation by the Empire. Assassinations While not in equal terms of military might to the Alliance and the Empire, they are adept at sneaking members of the cult in both armies to plot assassinations, in particular into the Imperial Navy. The most famous and successful attempt was the assassination of Admiral Yang Wen-li, who was the Commander-in-Chief of the remaining republican forces of the Iserlohn fortress. They would also make numerous attempts on the life of Kaiser Reinhard von Lohengramm, although these would be foiled by various means. In retribution, Kaiser Reinhard would order the destruction of their temple on Earth, which was unknowingly aided by a group of undercover Alliance officers. See Also
