Ted and the Angel

Ted and the Angel went on the air over WCIU-TV Chicago February 12, 1967. It was the television debut for both radio personality Ted Weber and ‘million legs’ model Angel Tompkins. The show premiered with Gary Crosby and Joan Bennett as guests. It was nominated for an Emmy that same year.
The next day Dean Gysel, TV critic for the Chicago Daily News said, “WCIU’s premier of the Ted and the Angel show proved Weber is engaging and has poise beyond his years, but neither he nor Angel Tompkins displayed much wit or extracted anything from their guests worth staying up for. Miss Tompkins looks like an angel, but as an interviewer she has the irritating habit of repeating guests’ answers and she showed her interests by asking Joan Bennett how it felt to be recognized on the street.”
Angel eventually headed to Hollywood and a successful TV and film career. Ted moved on to other television shows and continued his daily syndicated radio show.
