Technate

The word Technate was originated by Technocracy Incorporated to describe the region over which a Technocratic society operates. A detailed description of how a Technate would be organized and operated is given in the Technocracy Study Course the last two chapters of which outline a Technate. All resources of this land region (North America) would be used in the Technate design to provide an abundance of goods and services to its citizens within a context of sustainable abundance.

According to Technocrats, a Technate cannot simply be set up anywhere like a modern-day country; it has several inherent requirements that must be met in order for it to operate.

#There must be sufficient natural resources to create an abundance
#There must be a pre-existing industrial and scientific base from which to create the Technate.
#There must be a sufficient amount of qualified personnel to operate this infrastructure to provide an abundance.

According to Technocracy Inc., only the North American continent is currently known to be able to meet these requirements and operate a Technate.

There are currently no Technates in existence.

Proposed Technates
There has so far been one serious proposal for the establishment of a Technate. Technocracy Incorporated proposed the , covering the entire area of North America, as well as Central America and parts of South America (together with the Caribbean and many Pacific Islands) (See map opposite).

Apart from Technocracy Inc.'s established plan for a Technate, the Network of European Technocrats is working on a proposed European Technate. That group has not finalised the area of this entity. The two proposals and Technate versions of those groups are markedly different although some of the terms used by Technocracy Incorporated have been used by the NET group.
