The 6:00pm TBS-MBS is a time slot in Japan known for airing high rated programming, ranging from tokusatsu to anime.

History
Ultraman Tiga is the show widely considered as having been the start of the high ratings for the time slot. It marked the return to the TV screens of one of Japan's most prolific franchises after a hiatus of 15 years. The ratings for the slot continued into the sequel series, Ultraman Dyna, as well as the spin off, Ultraman Gaia. Following the end of Ultraman Gaia's 51 episode run, three Zoids series ran back-to-back in the time slot until the Ultraman franchise returned to the screens with Ultraman Cosmos, a 66 episode series that was accompanied by 3 movies.

Following the end of Ultraman Cosmos, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, the 9th series in the long running Gundam franchise, began its 50 episode run. With its run complete, Full Metal Alchemist made its debut, running for 51 episodes, followed by a theatrical movie. The series remains the highest rated anime in the time slot and third highest in its history following Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Gaia. After the end of Full Metal Alchemist, Gundam made a return to the time slot with Gundam SEED Destiny, the sequel to 2003's Gundam SEED and ran for another 50 episodes.

ran after Gundam SEED Destiny came to an end, the series spanned 50 episodes and was seen as a ratings failure, thanks in large part to competition from other anime such as Major gaining wide popularity. With the end of Blood + another show premiered, Ayakashi Ayashi. The show was written by Sho Aikawa, story boarder for Full Metal Alchemist. The series was scheduled to run for around a year but was cut to 25 episode due to lower than average ratings.

Once Ayakashi Ayashi finished its run, Toward the Terra made its premiere, an anime based on a 1970's manga. The series ran for 24 episodes and again, continued the trend of low ratings for the time slot. Following its climax, Mobile Suit Gundam 00 came on the air, expected to air for 26 episodes, the series has remained on the air with solid to high ratings with its first episode achieving ratings higher than any in Toward the Terra's run.

Musical tie ins
The time slot is known for having musical tie ins with many well known artists such as V6, , Asian Kung Fu Generation, High and Mighty Color and many others. Bands and singers attached to programs in this time slot have a history of their music that pertains to the programming selling well.
