Takenouchi Kira

Kira Takenouchi was born February 12, 1965 in Tokyo, Japan. She is the lesser known half-sister of renowned actor Yutaka Takenouchi, though the siblings have reportedly never met. Kira grew up in the States, where she is best known for her Ai no Kusabi-based doujinshi yaoi novel series, Taming Riki. Taming Riki gained a worldwide following in the ever-growing underground yaoi movement when Takenouchi distributed her doujinshi series through book publisher Yaoi Underground. Takenouchi is the only writer to have the approval of AnK copyright owner DMP/June to publish an Ai no Kusabi-based book series in the United States. Taming Riki, Volumes I (Parts 1, 2, and 3), Volume II (Parts 1 and 2) Volume III, and Volume IV (Parts 1, 2 and 3) are now being published by Yaoi House.

Takenouchi's books are extremely sexually graphic, depicting male/male (yaoi) sex, and have been banned in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. As President of Yaoi House, Kira has been questioned for her erratic business practices in the States and is relocating to Japan.¹ The Taming Riki series is being developed into an animated series by the new Tokyo-based film company ''Yaoi Live''.
